A self-described musical chameleon, Việt is a 21-year old singer-songwriter based in Toronto. He combines the lush harmonic and rhythmic techniques from his Humber jazz education, with the booty-shaking grooves of his first loves, neo-soul and disco, to create a unique sound transcending the decades. Lyrically, he draws upon his experiences as a queer youth of colour in the city, creating music that sparks a dialogue for issues of gender, sexuality, and cultural identity.
Viet will be making his solo debut at the Junction City Music Hall after amassing years of experience singing backgrounds with a wide variety of musical acts. As a vocalist for the Toronto All-Star Big Band, he has worked alongside artists such as Grammy award-winner Thelma Houston and Juno-award winner Murray McLauchlan. He has also sung with local groups and artists such as the Forte Men’s Choir, Pleasure Craft, Emily Rose, and several Humber showcase ensembles.
Watch out for the release of his first EP, Pleasure Slave, in the summer of 2019.

If you like to dance and sing-a-long this is the band for you!
Moodset is a jazz and R&B collaborative project comprised of Alexa Belgrave on keys, Jacqueline Teh on vocals, Madeleine Ertel on trumpet, Caleb Klager on bass, and Mackenzie Read on drums, all of whom are students and alumni of U of T’s jazz performance program. They founded the Station Café Jazz + R&B Jam which has fostered a sense of community among jazz and pop/R&B musicians from Oct-Nov 2018. Moodset has performed at various other venues in Toronto such as Yauca’s Lounge, The Emmet Ray and Alchemy Food & Drink. They have also been featured in the 2017 World of Jazz Festival in Brampton (when the band was under a different name – The Alexa Belgrave Quintet).
Moodset aims to create a vibrant atmosphere with an emphasis on the creation of original music and soulful sounds. With their own individual blend of jazz- informed techniques, R&B vibes, and memorable melodies, as well as being chosen for the 2019 TD Discovery series Special Project Grant, they hope to attract and engage listeners across all genres and levels of musicianship.
